Last night, my husband and I had the honor of seeing Cody Jinks in concert. If you don’t know who Cody Jinks is, check out one of his songs Must Be The Whiskey.
I’ve always loved all kinds of music, and have enjoyed a great guitar riff or drum beat with the best of them. But what speaks to me is the words. Songwriting at it’s simplest form is basically poetry, and if you listen closely to the words you’ll easily recognize that some songs are not written to be catchy, they’re written to be poetry. The words rhyme pleasantly and fit with a beat yes, but my favorites are when the lyrics tell a story.
