Poetry

Forward

You’re chased by yesterday who seeks you
Daring you to look back
Begging you to fall into the tar
Where you can be kept by mistakes
And tortured by both time and place
But you know not a place called tomorrow
Where your freedom hides in plain sight
Where your second chance awaits
New seasons of change and what’s next
You fear a single glance back
For yesterday waits to pounce
And tomorrow seems so far
You know the slide backward falls so steep
And the snags fight to trip you up
But look up-
Fight, and climb for the surface
Follow the light, brave the tunnel til the end
For a place called Forward beckons
And pleads you to follow there
