This poem is dedicated to my daughter Elianna, who turned seven yesterday.
The girl has a heart like wildfire
She longs for adventure, excitement, something more
She dreams an ocean of possibilities
Climbs a mountain of accomplishment
Uses the map laid out in the galaxy to find her way,
Following the stars forever
The girl burns bright, a supernova,
and passes through life like a shooting star
Raining down inspiration when she leaves
Caught up by little girls,
Who feel their own warmth in their heart,
As their own dreams pool into seas,
Their successes become foothills
They seek their atlas in the stars.
And they thank those who blazed the trail
And they forge their own,
for those who watch the stars.
